Abstract

Background: Total or subtotal glossectomies are associated with significant functional impairment thus can be considered as the last frontier in the surgical therapy of oral malignancies. However, the advancement in microvascular surgery especially regarding the use of re-innervated free flaps may provide a valuable solution for this dilemma.
