Abstract

A living chicken leg was used as a model in laboratory microvascular surgery training. After a description of the chicken leg anatomy and the surgical approach, many techniques of anastomosis (end-to-end, end-to-side, sleeve), pre- and postoperative microangiography and histological studies were performed on this model. It is suggested that the living chicken may be a good alternative in microsurgical training for beginners.
