Abstract

One stage microvascular toe transfer in hand reconstruction is a valuable and rewarding procedure. It is of special value when there is multiple loss of digits for traumatic or congenital reasons. Toe transfer in hand reconstruction compares favorably with conventional methods from functional and cosmetic viewpoints. It has a high level of safety provided that the surgeons have a strong background in microsurgery and hand surgery. The importance of careful case selection cannot be overemphasized.
