Abstract

A simple titrimetric method for determination of fluorine in organic compounds is described. Arsenazo I is proposed to be the indicator for thorium-fluorine titration since it is superior to alizarin red-S. The electrically heated combustion flask is used, providing a means to control the temperature and the duration of heating. The carbonaceous sample carriers are eliminated, reducing the amount of oxidant required for combustion of polyfluoro compounds and minimizing the danger of violent combustion.
