Abstract

Purpose: Injury to the Inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) and lingual nerve (LN) are known complications of the mandibular Sagittal Split Ramus Ostotomy (SSRO). Although a large number of postoperative parasthesias resolve, microsurgical exploration of the nerve may be indicated in cases of observed or suspected localized IA or LN injury. We report the outcome and demographics of microsurgical exploration and repair of the trigeminal nerve branches as a result of the SSRO.
