Abstract

In this study, the microstructures and mechanical properties of selective laser melted (SLM) GTD222 and TiC/GTD222 nickel-based composite after solid solution and aging heat treatment were studied. The results show that compared with GTD222 alloy, the TiC/GTD222 composite has finer grains and more precipitation phases, leading to its higher yield strength both at room and high temperatures. The improvement of yield strength can be attributed to the synergistic effect of the load-bearing strengthening of particles and Orowan strengthening. The plastic deformation mechanisms of the composite are also discussed.
