Abstract

Fe7Co3 with the highest magnetic moment is considered as the best soft magnetic phase. In addition, the domain wall energy of a PrFeB nanocomposite has been calculated to be higher than that of a NdFeB nanocomposite. Against this background, we investigated the influence of Pr content on the microstructures and magnetic properties of nanocomposite PrFeB/Fe7Co3 ribbons prepared by melt-spinning. A Pr content of 10 at% was found to engender hot-annealed ribbons with optimal magnetic properties; this material exhibited a remanence (Jr) of 0.59 T, a coercivity (Hci) of 548.3 kA/m, and a maximum magnetic energy product (BH)max of 69.3 kJ/m3. Furthermore, the volume fraction of the Fe7Co3 phase was calculated using an exchange coupling model.
