Abstract

Thermal cycling treatment (TCT), including martensitic transformation, is an effective method for improving alloy properties. The set of properties for phase-hardened alloys is mainly governed by their structure which in turn depends on phase transformations and the temperature and rate conditions for their occurrence. The aim of the present work is to study the structure of iron-nickel alloys fonned with repeated TCT, i.e., under conditions of crystal structure defect accumulation and a high level of phase hardening as a result of alternating direct and reverse martensitic transformation.
