Abstract

ABSTRACT Tungsten bronze structured (Ba1−xSrx)4Na2Nb10O30 (BSNN) (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 1.0) ceramics with different Ba/Sr ratios were synthesized by the solid state reaction method. The sintering behavior, phase development and dielectric characteristics of the BSNN ceramics, as a function of x (Ba/Sr ratio), were examined. Densification of the samples, lattice constant change and dielectric characteristics such as the maximum dielectric constant, Curie temperature and the degree of diffuse phase transition (DPT) were analyzed. The weakest DPT behavior was observed when x = 0.6. Abrupt changes in the lattice constant, Curie temperature and dielectric characteristics supported that idea that a morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) region exists around x = 0.6.
