Abstract

The microstructure gradient of electron beam welded Ni-Co based superalloy was investigated. In-situ tensile test and micro-hardness measurement were performed to analyze the microstructure-dependent mechanical properties. The temperature gradient during welding process resulted in obvious changes in grain size, γ' volume fraction and dislocation density at the weld joint. The mechanical properties were influenced by the microstructure evolution, while the effects of microstructure evolution on micro-hardness and Young's modulus were different. Effects of microstructure parameters on the strengthening mechanisms and mechanical properties were analyzed in detail.
