Abstract

In this study, AlCoCrFeNi high-entropy alloy (HEA) matrix coatings with Ag and BaF2/CaF2 eutectic were successfully fabricated by atmospheric plasma spray. Tribological properties of as-sprayed coatings at varying temperatures were investigated. The results revealed that lubricating phases were evenly distributed in the dense HEA matrix coatings with typical lamellar structures. The HEA coatings exhibited excellent wear-resistance, which was further improved with the increasing temperatures. The addition of Ag and BaF2/CaF2 eutectic alleviated the abrasion behavior and eminently decreased the wear rate by 10 times at room temperature. Meanwhile the lubricating additives changed oxidation products and inhibited the delamination of oxide layers at 800 °C.
