Abstract

The development of macroscopic shear bands (MSB) in copper single crystal of (112)[ 1 1 1] orientation subjected to channel-die compression in liquid nitrogen is analysed. The influence of twinning on the local orientation inside MSB, defined by the position 011〈110〉 is demonstrated. The crystalographic nature of MSBs whose material shear plane is parallel to the plane 111 has been documented.
