Abstract
YG8 cemented carbide and A3 steel were jointed by induction brazing using filler alloys of CuZnMn and CuZnMnCo respectively. Microstructure of the joints was analyzed by means of SEM. Shear strength of the brazing joint was measured. The results indicated that the bond strength of the joints which were brazed using the two kinds of filler alloys was all above 200MPa, and all the fractures took place in the cemented carbide near the interface, indicating that there was a large residual stress near the interface. In order to reduce residual stress, the joints were heat treated after brazing. The bond strength of the joint was increased obviously after these treatments. At the same time, the brazing joints were all fractured at the interface between cemented carbide and filler alloy.
