Abstract

A direct current arc discharge technique has been employed to prepare BaxSr1−xTiO3 ceramics. The effect of sintering temperature and dwell time on the crystalline structure, phase and morphology evolution are briefly studied. The results show that with the increase of sintering temperature and dwell time, the structure becomes more homogeneous, but a small amount of BaTi4O9 phase can still be traced. We also present data on dielectric permittivity measurements made in the temperature range from −165 to 200 °C with frequencies from 0.1 to 100 kHz. Except for Curie temperature (Tc) for BaxSr1−xTiO3 ceramics, a new phase transition for BaTi4O9 can be detected.
