Abstract
1. The greater the heterogeneity of the microstructure and the larger the grain size, the greater the susceptibility to brittle fracture. 2. The correlation of susceptibility to brittle fracture of steels with different microstructures is revealed only in tensile tests of notched samples in the brittle condition.
