Abstract

In modern science, the material behavior can be controlled by incorporating nano-building blocks or objects in concrete. Nanoparticle used in this study is rice husk ash. By using SEM analysis, the size of the nanoparticle was found to be in a range of 70–90 nm. In this investigation, the durability characteristics of concrete modified with fly ash and nano-rice husk ash in M35 grade are determined. Two different samples were prepared: one by replacing 3% nano-RHA with concrete and the other sample by replacing 20% fly ash with concrete. The tests conducted in this works are carbonation test, rapid chloride penetration test, surface and crushed pH test, antibacterial test, porosity test. Nano-RHA concrete shows better results when compared with fly ash concrete.
