Abstract

Highly dense in situ reinforced titanium matrix composites are fabricated with hydrogen assisted two-stage press-and-sintering method as described in the article, number 2101689 by Yuchao Song, Tuo Cheng, Orest Ivasishin and co-workers. Type and size of starting ceramic additives have substantial impact on the microstructure formation, residual porosity, and hardness of the pre-sintered composites. Sintering of hydrogenated pre-alloyed powders at second processing stage ensures desirable microstructure, improved density and uniformity of composites.
