Abstract

The evolution of hierarchical porous structure according to Ca/Si ratios of calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H), which determines the physicochemical properties of cement pastes, is still ambiguous. In this study, the changes in the hierarchical porous structure of synthetic C-S-H pastes with Ca/Si ratios of 0.6, 0.8, and 1.0 were analyzed via small angle X-ray scattering measurements using synchrotron X-ray. The microstructural changes of C-S-H within the length scale of 3-1000 Å were elucidated using the fractal model and the Guinier approximation that were presented as suitable for the cement hydrates in previous studies.
