Abstract

Summary: In Hungary, Microsporum canis infections spreading from animal to man were only sporadically diagnosed between 1961–1975. Since 1976, tinea capitis and corporis caused by Microsporum canis has been increasing from year to year especially in Budapest and its surroundings. The patients were mostly children. Infections of the scalp were rather resistant to treatment, and were controlled only by prolonged griseofulvin and local therapy.
