Abstract

Efficient capture of Salmonella is demonstrated on antibody functionalized highly porous micro-engineered silicon nitride membranes (microsieves) by combining dead-end filtration and automated fluorescence imaging for detection, as described in article 1400292 by C. J. M. van Rijn and co-workers. The work reveals the great potential of coupling bioselective capture and microfiltration for the direct and rapid detection of microorganisms.
