Abstract
A hamiltonian for the microscopic description of nuclear phenomena at low and intermediate energies is discussed. It employs nucleon, Δ-isobar and pion degrees of freedom. It is tested in the two-nucleon system below and above pion production threshold in hadronic and electromagnetic processes. It can be applied in nuclear structure and nuclear reactions.
