Abstract

Microscopic causality in quantum field theory has been expressed in several forms (~'a), both for free field theories and those with interactions. In this note nficroscopic causality in free field theories is statcd in a manner which generalizes to quantized solitary-wave theories--relativistic quantum field theories which have either polynomial or nonpolynonfial self interactions (4). A typical example of a nonlinear field theory with solutions resembling classical solitary waves is the theory with field equation
