Abstract

OBJECTIVE: An innate or acquired abnormality of the endometrium may contribute to the pathophysiology of endometriosis. MicroRNAs (miRNA) are non-coding RNAs involved in post-transcriptional regulation of target gene expression, with increasing support for critical functions in health and disease. We previously reported evidence for progesterone resistance in the early secretory endometrial (ESE) gene expression signatures in women with moderate-severe endometriosis. Using the same RNA specimens, we performed microRNA expression profiling to allow an integrated transcriptome-miRNA analysis of ESE in the setting of endometriosis.
