Abstract

Abstract This paper describes a development system for designing microprogrammed logic networks which are defined by the flowchart of the task. The system consists of 1. a uniform microprogrammable logic network based on the Intel 3001 MCU (microprogrammable control unit) 2. the development software which produces the microprogram based on the flowchart of the logic network to be designed 3. a special interface unit to an online computer and the simulation software which performs the functional testing of the network to be designed The development system aims at facilitating the application of microprocessor systems and the solution of various emulation tasks. The development system usually consists of the processors and memories of the system to be designed, in most cases provided with simple networks and peripheral devices. The original hardware contains therefore the hardware of the system to be designed and, in many cases, this system is capable of running the programs that produce the microprogram of the task to be solved. This method can be used for developing the systems, which contain microcomputers. If the features of the system are disadvantageous for the development software, then it is practical to elaborate the development software for a computer which can produce microprograms offline. After ROM programming, the microprogram can easily be tested functionally by an online computer.
