Abstract

The synch pattern available in video signal of normal TV telecast can be utilised for precise time comparison of two clocks located within one common telecast range. For the success of the scheme it is important to look into the basic practical problems of implementation of this scheme. This requires the reception of TV signal either from the normal telecast or directly from the satellite INSAT. The receivers for either of the situations are available in the market. The necessary other related instrumentations may be identified as TV line identifier, time interval counter and recording device like printer or computer. To facilitate the measurement an integrated system that includes all these components in-built in it has been designed and fabricated at NPL. This is based on microprocessor technology. This paper describes the systems in detail and discusses its salient features.
