Abstract

Abstract The maximum power transfer criterion in a tie-line of a typical longitudinal power supply system at critical stages of the reactive and real power limits with and without voltage control at the receiving end has been investigated. Microprocessor software is developed for on-line assessment of the system reliability at various stages of power transfer and to actuate the audio-visual alarm and trip at corresponding limits. A stability criterion associated with a voltage stable state of a week tie-line has been incorporated in the software for application in a basic model of a real power system.
