Abstract

This work deals with the problem of sub-optimal placement of microphones in array. The issue of the position of individual microphones is of great importance in the design process of broadband beamforming systems and should not be omitted. In the classic approach, filter coefficients are determined for the determined distribution of microphones so that the system output meets the desired directional criterion, e.g. maximizing the signal coming from the selected direction or minimizing or eliminating the noise level. In this paper we propose algorithms based on metaheuristic algorithms, in which the position of the microphones, their number and filter coefficients are chosen so that the output of the system is as close as possible to optimal output in the sense of the l 2 norm.
