Abstract

Micronutrients are essential for optimal health. Deficiencies may result in reduced psychological wellbeing, increased fatigue, reduced performance status and consequently impaired quality of life. Management of micronutrients is an area often overlooked in standard pathways for patients who have undergone surgery for oesophagogastric cancer. Improved outcomes and survivorship following radical treatment for these patients mean we can no longer overlook micronutrient deficiency which may have a detrimental effect on patients quality of life and wellbeing following surgery (I).
