Abstract

A method is described for the determination of phthalate esters (PEs) in parenteral solutions and commercial salts utilized for the preparation of such solutions. It can also be applied in environmental analysis of contaminants. The method comprises an isolation procedure of PEs from non-polar and other compounds with a low volume of n-hexane and its combination with methylene chloride on two-step microcolumns with silica gel and basic Al2O3. Analytical aspects of PEs assaying are discussed. Recoveries were mostly in the range of 90–98%.
