Abstract
Adsorption method has been widely used in purification, trace pollutant control, biomedicine, and other fields, and preparing an efficient adsorbent with low cost is very important for the applications. In this work, we employed nanosecond pulsed discharge plasma as a pore-forming agent to produce micro-mesoporous in polystyrene macroporous resins and reported the adsorption behavior of naphthalene on resins. By plasma induced pore-forming and functional groups-grafting, the equilibrium adsorption amount of micro-mesoporous resins for naphthalene is 324.4 % higher than that of the raw polystyrene macroporous resins. The characterization results show that a new pore size ranging from 0.5 to 2 nm and a vastly increased content of oxygen group of CO appears on the surface of the resin after plasma treatment. Additionally, the novel micro-mesoporous resins had good reusability without apparent capacity loss after five adsorption–desorption cycles.
