Abstract

A method of calculating the distribution of magnetization M in a thin single-crystal plate is proposed. The field M is assumed to change only in the plane of the plate; i.e., it is two-dimensional. As the computation region, the median section of the plate is chosen. The method in essence consists in the calculation of a three-dimensional magnetostatic field on a two-dimensional grid. To exemplify, the calculation is performed for a rectangular plate of Ni80Fe20 with dimensions of 100 × 50 × 5 nm with an easy axis orthogonal to the plate plane. The results of calculations are compared with those obtained on the basis of a solution of the corresponding problem in the complete (three-dimensional) formulation.
