Abstract

Micromachines are still attractive for real-time simulation of power systems. This paper gives limits on dimensional scaling in assessing the same transient and steady-state performance of the down-scaled micromachine as the full-size machine. A novel approach of a micromachine is then described which can overcome these limits. With the novel micromachine Model Reference Following Control (MRFC) technique is used to adjust eight of the transient and subtransient characteristic time constants of a Double Fed Machine (DFM). Test results as well as identification results are given which compare favorably with a chosen set of characteristic time constants.
