Abstract

We investigate ammonia decomposition under temperature pulsing toward enhancing H2 production. We observed up to a 10x increase in conversion with rapid pulsing under certain conditions. Our kinetic analysis identified the association of N2 as the rate-limiting step, showing significant rate enhancement by pulsing at high frequencies and temperature amplitudes. These findings highlight that rapid heat addition and removal, through joule heating, can boost performance and assist with decarbonization.
