Abstract
Microglia contribute to neurodegeneration through numerous mechanisms. In this issue of Neuron, Shi etal.1 identify a maladaptive innate-adaptive immune axis with CD8+ Tcells, mediated through microglial CCL2/8 and CCR2/5, in radiation-induced brain injury and stroke. Their findings across species and injuries suggest broader implications for neurodegenerative conditions.
