Abstract

AbstractA methodology for microfluidics simulation is presented. The methodology solves the three‐dimensional incompressible Navier–Stokes equations with an adaptive unstructured Finite Element method. A semi‐implicit Fractional Step procedure is used for time integration. The entire methodology has been parallelized for shared‐memory architectures via an algebraic domain decomposition. Results from both verification problems and prototypical applications are included. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
