Abstract

In this paper we will shortly outline the current status of microelectronics R&D cooperation in the Nordic countries. The key activity is the MPC service, NORCHIP, established already in 1981 and which has later on become the model for many national and Pan-European MPC activities. The major impact of the NORCHIP activity has been to raise the competence in the Nordic design community leading to new research activities and practical projects including industry-university cooperation. As a result of this enhanced interaction, we have collected in this issue some key technical publications presented in the 10th NORCHIP seminar based on ongoing industryuniversity cooperation projects. The NORCHIP seminar is held annually in a Nordic country. Helsinki, Finland was the site of the 10th seminar which was held in November, 1992.
