Abstract

The adoption of microelectronic technology in the manufacturing industries is characterized by a lack of information. The process may be understood at the level of the individual firm, but on a national scale there are major difficulties and confusion. Solutions to the problems raised by the adoption of microelectronics need to be found. This will only happen when there is a better understanding, by all involved, of the implications of the technology, an understanding influenced by those already concerned with microprocessors who can provide a specialist perspective.
