Abstract

Abstract This article reviews the literature regarding the use of microcomputers in production/operations management (POM) education and the techniques, topics, and objectives commonly used in teaching POM. Suggestions are given for using microcomputers more effectively—for example, identifying desired teaching objectives and outcomes. Recommendations are made to modify the typical business curriculum through use of emerging microcomputer technologies to build greater student expertise in upper level skills such as decisionmaking and communications.
