Abstract

Two user-interactive microcomputer codes have been developed to automate a relative risk assessment of alternative hazardous waste management technologies. RISK 1 conducts a deterministic assessment based on the Decision Alternative Ratio Evaluation (DARE) procedure. RISK2 implements a probabilistic analysis designed to accommodate user uncertainty and imprecise information. Both codes offer extensive user support including default analyses and “expert systems” to help select management technologies and maintain assessment consistency. Both approaches are capable of generating cardinal scale risk penalty functions necessary for quantitative optimization planning.
