Abstract

Abstract Using program management (PM) software can make the task of designing a completion schedule of a job easier for a project manager. This article defines GANTT charts, the critical path method chart (CPM), and program evaluation and review technique chart (PERT). Several microcomputer software packages are on the market to automate these charts. Their advantages and capabilities are discussed. Three implications for education in the area of project management are noted: The manager must be (a) comfortable with the microcomputer, (b) familiar with project management tools, and (c) acquainted with how the project management software can enhance the effectiveness of the managerial performance.
