Abstract

Disinfection of air and surfaces using a hydrogen peroxide aerosol allows microbial contamination of the hospital environment to be significantly reduced (from 83.3 to 36.7%, p = 0.0006; air contamination, from 360 to 140 CFU/m3). This disinfection technique can be used in addition to standard methods of disinfection. It is especially useful for decontamination of objects that are hard to access and/or difficult to handle.
