Abstract

Microorganisms have the ability to adapt to the most varied environments, they are potential sources of infection, inanimate surfaces in places of great circulation of people, enable the transmission of these infectious agents capable of colonizing and infecting an individual and the main route of transmission of microorganisms occurs through the hands. The objective of the study was the isolation and identification of bacteria on inanimate surfaces in religious tourism spots in Juazeiro do Norte CE. 09 samples were analyzed, collected at 3 points, the samples were sown on BHI agar, for the isolated strains, GRAM staining was performed, then the GRAM + were sown on blood agar and the CATALASE, COAGULASE AND MANNITOL tests were carried out, and the GRAM - were sown on BEM agar and biochemical tests of OXIDASE, TSI, CITRATE, UREA, PHENYL and MIO. Then an antibiogram was performed for all identified species. 27 bacterial strains of 10 different species were isolated. The most prevalent species was coagulase negative Staphylococcus (18.5%), followed by Staphylococcus aureus (14.8%) and Pseudomonas sp (11.1%). Opportunistic species were also isolated, such as: Staphylococcus lugdunensis, Shigella sp., Enterobacter aerogenes, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acnetobacter sp., Yersinia enterocolitica. 55% of the identified bacteria were resistant to four or more antibiotics that were tested. The present study identified the significant presence of bacteria of clinical interest on the analyzed surfaces, showing that they are favorable environments for the dissemination of pathogenic bacteria linked to serious infections.
