Abstract
There is an important need to control aflatoxin formation under storage conditions and in the field. When aflatoxin is present in agricultural commodities procedures have been developed to detoxify such products. In particular, ammoniation treatment has been of particular success. However, the use of microorganisms to detoxify aflatoxin is now being actively pursued. This paper reviews the biological methods of detoxification giving particular attention to in vivo detoxification by the producer organism Aspergillus flavus.
