Abstract

In this work the antimicrobial effect of ethanol extract from Larrea tridentata was corroborate, as well the blend with others biocompounds like chitosan and Agave lecheguilla extracts, against nine strains pathogens to human: Escherichia coli; Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhimurium, Serratia licuefaciens, Candida albicans, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella oxytoca, Proteus mirabilis and Proteus vulgaris. In this work were applied three methodologies: disc diffusion, poisoned medium and by broth dilution. Ethanol hydrosoluble extracts was employed at different concentration: Larrea tridentata (25, 50,100, 200 and 400 ppm); Agave lecheguilla (2700 ppm) and chitosan (1000 and 2000 ppm). Minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) and Minimal bactericidal concentration (MCB) were determinates. The results obtained permitted to demonstrate the antimicrobial activity of extracts from L. tridentata. MIC and MBC of nine pathogenic strains were 100 and 200 ppm, respectively. It was found a synergistic bacterial effect against all nine pathogenic strains when low concentration (25, 50, 100 and 200 ppm) of Larrea tridentata extracts were mixed with chitosan at the dose of 500 and 1000 ppm. Regarding to the blend of L. tridentata and A. lecheguilla; it was found an antibacterial effect against the strains of C. albicans, E. coli, P. aeruginosa and E. faecalis, therefore, reducing at a minimal quantity the CFU at concentration of 25, 50 and 100 ppm.
