Abstract
In the process of high speed micro cutting, the tool wear resistance is directly related to the machining performance and service life. Therefore, the wear resistance of the tool is the key to the research of high speed machining technology. The micro-texture is placed in the cutting tool surface based on the research of non-smooth surface. Using the simulation software to simulate the machining of non-textured and micro-textured cutting tools, results show that the cutting force, cutting temperature and wear rate of the surface texture tools are lower than those of the non-textured cutting tools. On the basis of simulation and friction experiments, micro-textures are placed near the tool tip region, with high speed micro cutting system the verification test is carried out. After cutting experiments and test results, experimental results show micro groove and micro pits could decrease surface friction coefficient effectively, reduce cutting force, cutting temperature, tool-chip contact length, change chip shape.
