Abstract

Near isotropic phase is a highly symmetric nematic phase (order parameter: Q is very close to zero) usually exists over a small temperature range near to the N–I phase transition temperature of any liquid crystal material, because of that it is often called as superheated nematic phase. Realization of this phase normally required high temperature, except for the typical material whose N–I phase transition temperature is near to the room temperature. The prime objectives of this article are to show that the superheated nematic phase can even exist at room temperature for any liquid crystal and hence to propose a platform towards high orientational speed electro-optic applications as well as non-linear optical processes in this phase at room temperature.
