Abstract

Fuel-free synthetic micro-/nanomachines powered by external stimuli (such as light, or magnetic, electric, or ultrasonic fields) have major advantages of on-demand motion control, long lifetime, and great biocompatibility. The strategies for designing and fabricating fuel-free micro-/nanomotors and their enormous environmental and biomedical applications are summarized in article number 1603250 by Li-Ping Xu, Xueji Zhang, Shutao Wang, and co-workers.
