Abstract
Hydrogels thin films with self-assembled surfactant micellar nanocomposites microstructures were prepared by a simple, green and cost effective approach. We have developed, gelatin/sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)/sodium alginate blend film with CaCl2 as cross linking agent. A uniform distribution of spherical micelles of the size 20 ± 2 nm, below its critical micellar concentration was clearly seen in the film matrix. The film showed improved drug loading, controlled drug delivery and biocompatibility. The film were flexible, swellable and sensitive to pH, to be used as a vaginal drug delivery system.
