Abstract

Lactating mice, in contrast to the passivity exhibited by nonparturient animals, displayed immediate and intense aggressive behavior toward male and female mouse intruders. However, lactating mice exhibited no aggression when tested either on Days 14–20 of the lactation period or 5 hr after their pups had been removed.
