Abstract
MGNREGA is the Central government's initiative to the constitutionally manifested right to work and a means to encourage livelihood security in rural areas. This scheme ensures minimum guaranteed return to the rural people by ensuring guaranteed employment. This article is a discussion on the difficulties faced by workers engaged under this scheme in Thrissur district of Kerala.
